Sanctuary Collective

Sanctuary Collective inspires, empowers, and supports young LGBTQ adults and allies through four areas of focus

Community-Based Organizing

Young adults are changing the world. Sanctuary Collective is young adult led and supports young adult led activism in distinct communities across the USA. Our pilot Community Organizing program is in western Michigan where Discipleship Program graduate Emily West is supporting young adult leaders at Hope College, facilitating connections with other Christian and secular schools and student groups, and providing strategic and logistic guidance and support.

Training, Facilitation, and Public Speaking

Representatives from Sanctuary Collective are available to lead training or workshops for your organization or conference. We have led sexuality, gender, nonviolence, and organizing trainings for the board of directors of Room For All, for student leaders at Carnegie Mellon University, and more.

Representatives from Sanctuary Collective are also available to speak at your church, university, organization, conference, or event. We have preached, led workshops, given addresses, and participated in panel discussions at Philadelphia Transgender Health Conference, Columbia University, Carnegie Mellon University, Northeast LGBT Conference, Seattle Pacific University, Soulforce Symposium.

Resource Collection and Creation

Sanctuary Collective has a library of resources focused on the specific needs of young adults organizing in Christian communities. While a wealth of resources exists for faith-based organizers, young adult organizers, and Christian young adults, we have found that there was a particular lack of resources directed specficially to young adults situated within a Christian context who are looking to actively organize for change.
