A bit about Delfin Bautista:
Delfin hails from Miami, FL and is currently in his last year at Yale Divinity school. He is the first openly queer and Latin@ student council president at YDS, has a Masters of Social Work, participated in the 2007 Soulforce Q Equality Ride, worked with the Religious Institute since 2008. Deflin’s extensive background includes HIV/AIDS case management, trauma therapy with victims of crime, and working in child welfare. He is committed to bridging religion with LGBTQ issues, social justice, and issues of violence. He is deeply thrilled, thankful, and exuberant to be involved with Sanctuary Collective.
Extended Bio:
Saludos, I hail from Miami, FL and I am of Cuban/El Salvadoran heritage. I am currently in my last year at Yale Divinity School where I am pursuing a Master of Divinity. I am the first openly queer and Latin@ student council president at Yale Divinity School. I also hold a Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Social Work from Florida International University. My background includes HIV/AIDS case management, trauma therapy with victims of crime, and working in child welfare. In 2007 I was selected to participate in the Soulforce Equality Ride and have been an active participant in Soulforce actions. I have worked for the Religious Institute since Summer 2008. My areas of interest are bridging religion with LGBTQ issues, social justice/human rights issues, and issues of violence, specifically relational violence.
Excited is not the word, overly and deeply thrilled, thankful, and exuberant is how I feel to be able to take part in this amazing and much needed program. I am looking forward to connect with others who are on this journey along side me and learning from those who have struggled (and continue to fight) before me. It does this misfit and heretic much good to know that we are not alone.
