Standing Straight
Rev. David Lewicki Source
In New York City, straight allies organized an event as part of "Seven Straight Nights for Equal Rights," a nationwide campaign for straight folks to take a stand for their LGBTQ friends and neighbors. In New York, straight allies gathered in Madison Square Park and literally took a stand for LGBTQ equality--on milk crates around the reflecting pool. As they stood, they reflected on statements from LGBTQ folks--what this action means, why it is importnat. After, we gathered at Marble Collegiate Church, the oldest Protestant church in North America, for their midweek sermon dedicated to the cause. Rev. Lewicki preached on why it is important to stand up for your LGBTQ friends and neighbors.
